2015 Burton Ruler Wide Mens Boot Overview
Hi there. Welcome to the Morning Shred brought to you by snowboards.com. I'm Jenna. This is Levi from Burton and we're going to talk about the Burton Ruler Wide today.
Levi, this is one of the few boots available in wide so it's one of the reasons why we brought it in. Tell us a little bit about the boot itself. Yeah, definitely. The Ruler has been a boot that's been in our line for quite some time now and it's always been in our line as a great step up from the Moto. You get a nicer liner, we call it our Imprint 2 Liner, and then you also get added support just throughout the backstay and the construction of this boot and it's still got a few of the other great features you get in other boots but yeah, like you said, very unique to the line up is the fact that it actually comes in a wide size so...the black and yellow colorway that you guys carry. It's for that wider-footed guy that doesn't want to go into too big of a boot and have it dragging but does want that added comfort of a little bit wider boot. Which I'm sure is where a lot of people go for that extra width which obviously doesn't work out that well. Yeah, definitely. Too many people are sizing up to try to get that width and that's a great thing with the Ruler here.
A couple other great features on the Ruler are going to be that it uses our Dualzone Speedzone so it's got a nice convenience closure system where you got an upper zone pull and a lower zone pull where you can tighten up and really fine-tune the way you want this boot to to fit. Also, it uses other great Burton features like what we call our Total Comfort Construction where this boot is meant to have very little break-in time. You should be able to take this right out of the box and head to the local hill and ride for the day without having cramping problems in your feet and it also has something we call Total Warmth on it this year where, with the new Imprint 2 Liners they use 3M Thinsulate to help keep you nice and warm. Also uses a metal strobel underneath the foot of the liner to reflect heat back up into that rider's foot and keep you nice and warm all day long. And that's pretty cool because that was something that started off in some of the higher end boots and you guys trickled it down pretty fast. Yeah, definitely. A lot of the features on this boot have kind of come about that way. We do a lot of the research and development, we're one of the best with that, and we're always trickling technology down throughout the line so great boot for the price. Going to be super comfortable. Great step up in both response and comfort from, say, other boots like the Moto or the Highline.
And what about the outsole? Because there's a little bit of added performance there too as well, right? Yep, this is an all new outsole. It's made out of DynoLite which is a super lightweight material and you're going to have a good feel for the board but then we also add some gel to it. We call it B3 Gel which is a gel that's not meant to get stiff in cold temperatures like other gels out there and then it also has a little rubber spikes built into the toe and heel of it so that when you're walking around on slippery conditions or, say, even if you were even taking this boot hiking, you're going to just have that added grip that a lot of other EVA soles don't give you. Great, so really it's kind of that next step for maybe the guy whose had a Moto forever looking for a little more performance, a little bit of added comfort to it. Yep. Great next step, right? Definitely. It's a great intermediate boot for that intermediate rider and, like you said, this boot being a wide it's really going to alleviate that problem for a lot of people with wider feet that can finally get a boot that fits them well and is going to be very comfortable and then also have the performance they're looking for.
Great, well make sure to check out the Ruler Wide on snowboards.com and thanks for watching the Morning Shred.
