2016 Burton Cartel and Cartel EST Binding Overview
Hey there, welcome to The Morning Shred, brought to you by snowboards.com. I'm Jenna, this is Levi from Burton and we're going to talk about the Burton Cartel and Cartel EST binding. So Levi, this is a great binding, who's it for? this binding is great for anybody from the pro-level to the intermediate rider. The only reason I don't suggest it for a beginner is it's got a lot of bells and whistles that, a lot of times, beginners just don't need right off the bat but it's a great mix of comfort and performance. A lot of great features on this binding that are pretty unique to Burton.
A couple options that you get with the Cartel are whether you get it in Re-Flex or EST. Re-Flex is a base where Burton has gotten rid of a ton of material underneath here and it allows the binding to flex, nose to tail, with the board. And that takes away a lot of beating on the board. Also, it comes in an EST version which will be compatible with just the Burton Channel system, where the Re-Flex is good with Channel as well as Burton's 3-hole as well as other companies 4-hole. Other cool features on this thing which are pretty unique to Burton are the new buckle system. It's called the double-take buckle with insta-click and this is going to give you even more torque down into your binding as well as giving you great hold while you're in there, as well as a nice smooth, even feel as you're buckling down. Basically, we've taken the standard teeth and tipped them at an angle and it just makes it an all around great buckle system.
Tell them a little bit about the straps on the binding? Yeah, we've got our super grip cap strap which has been a staple in the Cartel for a little while now. It's really got a ton grip both on the top and bottom of your boot as it pushes you down and back into the heel hoop. The ankle strap is this nice light weight React ankle strap. We've also added the flex slider to all the Burton bindings this year. The Cartel had it last year and we've kind of trickled it down from there but this is an awesome feature that allows the rider to get their foot in there nice and easy. Once their foot is in there too, there's some cool unique stuff going on underneath the foot. We've got this auto-cant footbed where you get a harder EVA on the outside of the foot and a softer one on the inside, which naturally will cant your leg on hard landings. We've also got some B3 gel in the heel which will help soften up any hard landings as well. All around this is a great binding for the advanced guys, a ton of our pros ride this binding, but it's also going to be a great mix of comfort and performance for that intermediate rider as well. Yeah, a lot of stuff to kind of push off fatigue so that you can ride longer, be comfortable for longer but also, like you said, there's stuff that will help you progress give you that power and response that you need. Yep. Well make sure to check out the Burton Cartel and Cartel EST on snowboards.com and thanks for watching.
