There's a reason that the North Face Freedom Shell Pants are consistently best-sellers. They're waterproof, breathable, allow mobility and offer plenty of storage. These Freedom Pants are designed a little shorter to accommodate those who want to wear their pants shorter.
The HyVent fabric creates a barrier preventing any wintry moisture from seeping in while still being breathable enough for sweat to escape. These shell pants give you the freedom to head out and enjoy a nice sunny ski day or layer up one the colder January evenings you may be heading to the hill. If you start to heat up a little too much though you'll be able to open up the thigh vents for some additional fresh air. With reinforced edge guards and StretchVent gaiters, you'll be able to play in the snow knowing these pants can hold up.
Hit the hill in the classic North Face Freedom Short Pants and show off your subtle style while remaining comfortable.

Great design with pockets. I purchased short version and I am happy I did because these pants seem long. They are a little more baggy than I prefer but that is more the style these days. Only have used them 4 days skiing but so far repel water and wind very well.
the pant fits true -- not baggy nor slim. While there is no zipper at the cuff, it is roomy enough for boots. Just enough "storage" in the 3 pockets. I was looking for a replacement for a full zip, fully taped alpine ski pant. These were to be back ups when I found another "technical" pant. These will work for now. Whether you get these at $100 or full retail at $170, these pants are solid for most winter activities.
Medium S fit my 5'9" 180lbs without an issue. The shorter length was perfect for my height. Paired with a Coldgear base layer these kept me plenty warm enough really cold weather and are versatile enough to use in warmer weather as well. The pockets are a bit awkward to access, but being that I don't carry anything in them, I wasn't bothered by it.
