A smaller version of the women's model, the Flow Micron Velvet snowboard is just the right tool to take her skills to the next level. The EZ-Rockr profile and Tru-Twin shape provide a fun and flexible, catch-free ride that is easy to learn and progress on. EZ-DT Sidecut gives her extra grip on icy, hardpack terrain so she can really hold an edge as she starts linking turns. Technical features like the Biaxial Fiberglass, ensures the board has lots of pop and response; while the low-maintenance Optix 2000 Base adds overall durability. Whether she's just starting out or quickly progressing, the Flow Micron Velvet snowboard will help take her skills to the next level and provide her with endless amounts of fun.

Q: So I'm thinking about getting the 145 cm for my wife. She's a beginner and is 5'3, her current snowboard is 141 cm. I was wondering if there's any major difference between the girls micron version and the women's flow velvet version aside from size, because all I could find was that the women's 146 cm version has a 243 mm waist, whereas the girl's micron has 240 mm. Could it be possible for my wife to use this, or does she really need the women's version? Also how would you say the EZ-DT sidecut deals with icy conditions versus a snowboard with magne-traction? Thanks!

A: While they are very similar in most specs, the Velvet is stiffer than the Micron Velvet which allows it perform for the strength and power of an adult. It is still a soft board that leans towards forgiveness rather than response, but it will help your wife progress into riding with a bit more speed. The other difference is the 3DT sidecut versus the EZ-DT sidecut. The 3DT will allow for that extra bit of edgehold which will again help her progress into a better rider. As for 3DT vs magnetraction, I would say magnetraction is much more noticeable in terms of added grip.
